LITIGATION ATTORNEY
The Missouri Public Service Commission is seeking a Litigation Attorney within the General
Counsel’s Office. The Commission is the state agency responsible for the regulation of public
utilities providing electric, natural gas, water and sewer, and telecommunications service.
This position handles legal matters including defending Commission orders before state appellate
courts; other litigation and trial practice at all levels of state or federal courts; management of all
stages of case litigation and negotiation before federal agencies, such as FERC; and legal analysis
and advising regarding policy initiatives and energy development.
The candidate must have at least 5 years of civil or administrative litigation experience. Knowledge
of civil practice and procedure is required. Must be articulate and skilled in oral and written
communications. Experience in public utility regulation is preferred, but not required. The candidate
must be admitted to practice law in Missouri and be a member in good standing of the Missouri Bar.
A moderate amount of in-state and out-of-state travel may be necessary.
The annual salary range is $70,814 - $75,232. This position is located in Jefferson City, Missouri.
